Herbaceous Perennial Saturday Symposium website Painting, sculpting, photography….all bring to mind what many believe defines “art.” However, art is expressed in many other ways, too. To raise awareness for how we all have a little something artistic in us, the Metro Arts Two Rivers Expo themed its 2007 show, “Everyone is an Artist.” Whether we like to decorate cakes, scrapbook, make our own stationery, or garden, we all have a creative flair. As a master gardener, you appreciate gardening as an expression of artistry. You can imagine just how thrilled we are to feature one of America’s renowned landscaping and gardening experts right here in Des Moines. To celebrate gardening as an artistic expression, Metro Arts Alliance has invited gardening/landscape expert Jon Carloftis to speak at this year’s Metro Arts Two Rivers Expo, Saturday, November 3, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on the Main Stage of Hy-Vee Hall, Iowa Events Center. Jon’s presentation is sponsored by Meredith Corporation. Known as “Gardener to the Stars,” Jon’s clients have included the Lauder family [of Estee Lauder fame], Sotheby's auction house and actors Julianne Moore and Edward Norton. He is a contributing writer to many publications and has made numerous television appearances. He will share his insights on his approach to garden design and what you can do to create a garden area that expresses your personality and creativity. I hope you can join us for this unique opportunity. Tickets are just $7.00 for an entire afternoon of art, music and Jon’s presentation. You can purchase tickets online at www.iowatix.com or at the door. REIMANS' GIFT TO KEEP BUTTERFLY WING OPEN UNTIL DEC. 31 A gift from Roy and Bobbi Reiman will keep the Reiman Gardens' Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing open until Dec. 31.
