Master Gardener Training


Passionate about volunteering and gardening?

Become a Master Gardener by participating in the Master Gardener Core Training. ISU Extension & Outreach will be providing 40 hours of training for new Master Gardeners on Tuesdays in September, October and November in locations across the state. Read the press release here. Don’t want to volunteer? Participate as a Pro-Hort trainee.

Applications are due to the county Extension office by August 1, 2015. Learn more about registering for the Master Gardener core training here.

Training will be hosted in Altoona, Ames, Bettendorf, Bloomfield, Carroll, Cedar Rapids, Cherokee, Council Bluffs, Creston, Decorah, DeWitt, Dubuque, Fairfield, Garner, Grundy Center, Ida Grove, Independence, Indianola, Iowa City, Knoxville, Logan, Maquoketa, Marshalltown, Mason City, Monticello, Mount Pleasant, Muscatine, Osceola, Oskaloosa, Pocahontas, Rock Rapids, Sac City, Sioux City, Tipton, Tripoli, Vinton, Wapello, Washington, Waterloo, Waukon and West Burlington.

Join Master Gardeners in a three-part webinar series this June, July, and August. Topics range from landscape design to water features, and attracting butterflies to planting trough gardens.  Speakers include Lisa Orgler, Gary Whittenbaugh, Dr. Denny Schrock, Jamie Beyer, Nathan Brockman, and Susan Appelget-Hurst.

Each two-hour webinar counts towards continuing education requirements.
